The 3 Day Diet is one of those diet that are still used although there is no scientific proof to backup the claims issued. It first appeared in 1985 and the promise is: lower cholesterol, more energy and weight loss. Some people will know this diet by the name Cleveland Clinic Diet, although this is not the real name that was initially used and is still widely used today. The principle behind the 3 Day Diet stands in following a strict plan for 3 days and then getting back to eating normally for around 5. After this the cycle is repeated. Whey protein is basically protein powder that comes from milk obtained from cows. Milk includes 2 proteins: whey protein (around 20%) and Casein (around 80%). The main difference between these two proteins stands in the fact that whey protein steps out as more soluble. If we are faced with low BCAA levels in our body we tend to be more fatigued. This usually happens after a good workout so we do have to replenish BCAA levels. Now you understand why a lot of professional bodybuilders will consume whey protein shakes. Read more »
A ketogenic diet is basically a low carbohydrates diet that is linked with high fat and good protein intake. Such a diet is usually used in order to treat epilepsy that is really hard to control in children. We are basically faced with a diet that will mimic starvation to the point in which the body will start burning fat and not carbohydrates. When our body has little carbohydrates to burn the liver will start turning fat right into ketone bodies and fatty acids. Ketone bodies will eventually replace glucose in the brain and will be used as energy sources. If the human body starts producing ketone bodies we are faced with ketosis.
The Ketogenic Diet only includes as much protein as needed when talking about body repair and growth. It is also built so that we have enough calories to meet with the requirements brought in by the patient’s height and age. In most cases this diet has a ratio of fat to carbohydrates and combined protein of 4 to 1. Read more »
